Sources and update policy

Synthesis Data prioritizes traceable primary and first-party sources, records retrieval evidence and keeps unresolved items separate from verified source material.

Source hierarchy

  1. Current Synthesis Data records and approved source register.
  2. Government, regulator, municipal, school-district and official program sources.
  3. First-party platform documentation and licensed data sources.
  4. Reputable industry research with a disclosed method and publication date.
  5. Secondary commentary for discovery only, with important claims verified against the underlying source before publication.

Authorization before ingestion

A public website being readable does not automatically authorize bulk collection, commercial reuse or redistribution. Automated ingestion requires an approved source record that identifies the source owner, purpose, method, permitted use and restrictions.

Freshness

Update frequency is source-specific. A report should show the applicable observed date, data period or retrieval date rather than imply that every component is continuously updated. If the responsible source has not published a current value, the prior value should be dated or the field should remain unresolved.

Currently controlled source candidates

SourceCurrent control statePermitted candidate use
Federal Housing Finance Agency House Price IndexRestricted / inactive pending production activationAggregate house-price index and appreciation context; not individual-property valuation.
U.S. Census Bureau Data APIRestricted / inactive pending production activationAggregate demographic, housing, economic and geographic context; no re-identification.
MLS/listing dataNot authorized without a licensed feedNo scraping or production use until SDA has an explicitly authorized data agreement.

Corrections

When a material source fact or interpretation changes, the affected record or published item should be corrected with a retained audit trail where the operating system supports one. Historical values should not be silently relabeled as current.
